The Friday Five
1. What does it say in the signature line of your emails? I don't use signature lines in 2 of my 3 main emails. The one I do have is: A kind act, a kind deed. Kindness grows, plant the seed. http://theraokgroup.com
2. Did you have a senior quote in your high school yearbook? What was it? If you haven't graduated yet, what would you like your quote to be? Yes. It was a line from "Philadelphia Freedom" by Elton John. "The less I say the more my work gets done." I used that because I was voted shyest girl in my class ... and because I loved Elton John.
3. If you had vanity plates on your car, what would they read? If you already have them, what do they say? At one time I wanted SBU 82, but now I don't know what I want. I do think about it though ... just haven't come up with anything I like.
4. Have you received any gifts with messages engraved upon them? What did the inscription say? Yes. "Merry Christmas, Love T."
5. What would you like your epitaph to be? I don't want one. But if I had to pick one I'd say "-30-" ... For anyone who doesn't know, in the journalism world -30- means "The End."

I'm sure there are more notable Bona grads, but these are the few that came to me right away. Proof, I say, that attending a party school isn't necessarily a bad thing.
Obviously, the advantages of attending a highly ranked party school are under rated. As proof of this I submit these graduates of St. Bonaventure University.

Chick Chat
Questions For Jan. 13th
Junk Food Junkies
1. Coke or Pepsi?: It used to be Diet Coke but since I started Atkins I drink only water and flavored decaf coffee.
2. What's your comfort food?: I don't need comfort food anymore. I just realized that as I read this question. Wow! lol It used to be any kind of potatoes (including chips), Doritos and macaroni & cheese.
3. Chocolate: White/Milk/Dark?:Dark, please. But I do like white on Easter.
4. Favorite Chips?:It used to be Troyer Farms (local brand) barbecue. I haven't had chips since August though, and I don't miss them, although I would like to try the new guacamole Doritos. Someday. Maybe. Then again, maybe not. We'll see.
5. What food do you crave the most?: I really don't have cravings anymore except ... well, you know. Then, it's chocolate. Thank God for Atkins peanut butter cups!

Nervous but Excited
I've been asked by a local group to be its guest speaker next month. I'm really nervous because I've never done anything like that before. But I'm flattered and excited because they asked me.
I'm also excited because I'm hoping the speaking engagement (*giggle* I have a speaking engagement) will boost sales of my book, as well as generate interest in book number two.
Ever since I was asked to do this I've been practicing in front of the bathroom mirror. I'm getting better, I think. Thirty more days of practice should have me ready. I hope it gets rid of my nerves ... and keeps me from shaking uncontrollably while I'm talking.
I keep telling myself this is good practice for when I'm on Oprah.

Transitions
There have been quite a few times during the several months I've been my mother's primary caregiver that I've felt I am the parent and she is the child. But this morning I realized it really happened. I've turned into my mother. I actually uttered these words: "How many times do I have to tell you?" Ugh!
The question wasn't a result of me telling her to wash the dishes or clean her room or let the cat out. It wasn't anything similar to what I used to do (or not do) to evoke those words from her. So, what happened? Well, I told her five or six times over the last few days what my plans were for this morning. After each time, she asked if I would go to the pharmacy and pick up a couple of things for her. I said I would. This morning, we had the same conversation. I was so frustrated that I had to say it.
But it was more than just that one thing. It happens all the time. I mean all the time. Having any kind of meaningful conversation is very difficult. It's more than frustrating. It's sad to see her mind deteriorating. I know it's frustrating and sad for her, too. That's why I feel so bad for saying what I said.
I'm sure we'll both get over it ... eventually.

Wednesday Whatevers
1. Do you prefer today's world or would you prefer the more simplistic past? I like having things like cable TV and computers and DVDs, but sometimes I think about how much simpler life probably was in the 50s. I might not mind putting on a poodle skirt and hanging out at the malt shop with my friends.
2. What does Valentine's Day mean to you? I was trying to think of the best way to say this when I came across Susan's answer. Perfect! The main character in my novels doesn't like Valentine's Day either. I thought about stealing some of her lines & using them here but it might spoil it when/if people read book #3 in my series.
3. What types of books do you like best? Mine. lol Actually, I don't like to read mine. I get too nervous, wondering what other people are thinking when they're reading. Besides, by the time all the editing and proof reading process is finished, I'm sick of it. Anyway, my favorite authors are James Patterson and John Grisham.
